Helping your child reach the summit

Evaluation + Treatment Services

All evaluation and treatment sessions are provided in-home, in the child’s daycare/preschool, at the Murfreesboro office, or via teletherapy upon request. A trusting relationship with the child is key, and sessions are play-based to enhance the child’s comfort and incorporate their interests. Parents are provided with verbal progress at the end of each session as well as weekly emails with recommendations for practicing skills at home. Parents are encouraged to participate in all or part of the treatment sessions to ensure carryover of skills throughout the week during daily activities. Family reinforcement is a key to success!

PROMPT Therapy

PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonemic Targets) is an evidence-based therapy strategy for treating articulation disorders and Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). The clinician helps to move the child’s articulators so that the child can achieve the correct motor plan to produce a sound accurately. PROMPT is a motor learning technique, which makes it an ideal tool for children with CAS.

Myofunctional Therapy

Myo therapy is a program which addresses the muscles of the face, mouth, and tongue to improve challenges with speech, breathing, and feeding disorders. The program is focused around oral-rest posture, nasal breathing, resting position of the tongue, and the coordination of movements to effectively chew, sip, swallow, and produce speech sounds. Your child may benefit from myo therapy if he/she demonstrates:

  • Chapped lips/dark eye circles in the mornings

  • History of tongue tie or current tongue tie

  • Difficulty chewing/swallowing

  • Lisp or other sound errors during speech

  • Protruding tongue/open mouth posture

  • History of difficulty breastfeeding during infancy

Payment Information

Summit Speech is a private-pay, out-of-network practice. Summit Speech does not work with insurance companies to process claims for services provided. We will provide you with paperwork which you can submit to your insurance company to independently receive reimbursement. Being an out-of-network practice allows us to dictate the best course of treatment for the patient based on the practitioner’s expertise and the needs of the child, rather than the insurance company having the ability to dictate the treatment plan.
